Your Path to Radiant Skin

You want radiance every day; I mean this is something everyone has in common. I think this is the #1 beauty goal that I hear every person talk about, from exfoliation to active ingredients, and even glowy makeup, these are the essentials to looking lit.

The main thing you must know is your skin is the largest organ in your body, so you want to take care of it.

MAKEUP
The truth is, there are so many products that people use to enhance the appearance of radiance in their makeup routine which works well, but underneath their make up their skin is dull and perhaps a bit dry. Having a glowing complexion is the most essential beauty weapon in your lockbox and I am going to share how to get you there.

For the record, I am not discouraging this quick fix step and indulge quite frequently when applying makeup, but think about it; if you had radiant skin 24/7 then your routine at home would become simplified, which is a WIN, WIN!

Here are my only some of my favourite instant radiance products that I carry in my makeup kit and use on the regular: Nars Illuminator in Hot Sand
which gives a nice warm radiant glow to the skin and can be used on its own or mixed into your foundation.

As well as Nars Illuminator in Copacabana for when I want a cooler radiant glow.  This is a winner for fairer complexions.  Now if you are into sheer foundation coverage, especially leading into summer then you can find amazing tinted moisturizers that have radiance agents built right in. So you will be able to get some coverage, moisturizer with a side of radiance, and SPF all in one product.

EXFOLIATE

Old, dead skin cells can make even the dewiest skin look dull and un-lustrous. Dullness is usually caused by dead skin cell buildup, so if you exfoliate it will often assist in brightening your skin by sloughing these dead cells away which will allow your beautiful radiant skin to come forward. Keep in mind you don’t have to go overboard and add a new daily step into your skincare routine however, at minimal once a week would change the look and feel of your skin!

There are two kinds of exfoliants: chemical and physical. Here is the difference: Physical exfoliants are scrubs, which slough away dead cells with grainy ingredients, and chemical exfoliants melt dead skin cells with substances like glycolic or lactic acids to alleviate stubborn cells. Both types can prove effective, but many dermatologists prefer chemical exfoliants for optimal results. It also proves to be gentler so there is no chance to over scrub your skin.

Something to note, there is a range of chemical exfoliant strengths available, so a peel can be tailored to specific skin types: Some which use glycolic, tartaric, lactic, citric, and salicylic acids which result in serious beautiful skin freshening.  Products containing Glycolic Acid can be a bit harsh for some but is a natural exfoliant for the skin while also helping to alleviate ingrown hairs!!

If you cannot go without a face scrub, choose one with more gentle ingredients like rice powder or a scrub catered towards sensitive skin, which will give you a gentle exfoliating experience.

This is another product I often recommend; as well this exfoliator is not at all rough on the skin. It uses little beads instead of harsher exfoliants.  La Roche-Posay Ultra Fine Scrub – CLICK HERE to SHOP NOW.

Once you start exfoliating, your makeup will stop just sitting on the surface of your skin and instead be one with your skin! Feel me?

Radiant skin is on the way!

I do truly LOVE this Micro-Dermabrasion Exfoliator for many reasons but the most important to me, besides its divine smell, is you can adjust the level of exfoliation by either applying it straight on dry skin OR for a more gentle exfoliation apply to damp skin and add more water slowly and you will be good to go! I value the flexibility to alter the strength of my exfoliation and each packet contains the optimal dose of an oil-free formula designed to promote exfoliation and cell turnover while enhancing your skin radiance. It features Vitamins C and E and polishes the skin with salt and sugar granules that melt away leaving the skin silky smooth. I, myself have used each packet about 3 times for optimal value!

Now once your skin is exfoliated and feeling soft and supple, adding to your skin’s health and radiance is always a bonus! Think about incorporating a radiance-boosting serum to your skincare regimen.

VITAMIN C

Another culprit to a dull complexion is uneven skin tones. Vitamin C brings its A-game, when it comes to brightening up dark spots and pigmentation issues. A good thing to know is what vitamin C (ascorbic acid) does, with regular application, is it interferes with your skin development of pigmentation. The fab thing is Vitamin C can be integrated into most skincare regimens easily with only a couple of drops before your moisturizer. Vitamin C can also be used on all skin types. I would say the only negative drawback is Vitamin C can be expensive and not all forms are created equally.  GOOP GLOW is the most amazing Vitamin C/Hyaluronic Acid Combo.

SUNSCREEN

Without sounding like a nag, the best way to keep your skin looking healthy and damage-free is to wear sunscreen and keep those harmful UV rays far away from your skin. That means wearing sunscreen every day, all day so think of it this way, you only have one face.

FACIAL MASSAGE

Facial massage, especially of the soft tissues and connective tissue, which is called fascia, can help. Great daily practice for reducing tension in the face as well as getting circulation going is called Gua sha. Also, facial rollers like rose quartz or jade rollers can increase circulation and reduce puffiness.

MOISTURIZERS

I realize this may be obvious but using a moisturizer to achieve dewy radiant skin is essential. Straight to the point when your skin is dry and dull adding a moisturizer with hydrating ingredients can bring back that glow.
Note: Apply Serums BEFORE your moisturizer AND give your skin a few minutes in between every step of your skincare regimen to reap the benefits!

HOME REMEDIES

Virgin Coconut oil is an amazing product that you can use in your daily skincare regimen that will contribute to dewy skin. It has healing properties, is anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant. You can use it to take off your makeup and it can soothe your skin barrier. If you are allergic to coconut this is not for you.

Aloe Vera also has healing properties and can stimulate new cell growth. It will not clog your pores while it soothes and moisturizes your skin. Before trying this ensure you are not allergic so do a patch test.

All kinds of golden nuggets in this post, friends!
